We spend much of the first half of our lives creating our identities, learning our place in the world and, hopefully, the part God asks us to take in it. But what of the second half? What happens when that inner spiritual life is interrupted or given up? What happens when there is a crisis of faith? How do we grow into a deeper understanding and greater awareness of “heaven on earth” in the second half of our lives? In short, how do we “fall upward”?
Join the Rev. Brad Purdom for this one-day retreat at Bellwether Farm using Richard Rohr’s book Falling Upward; A Spirituality for the Two Halves of Life as a jumping off point. There’s no requirement to read the book ahead of time and all materials will be provided.
“The message of Falling Upward is straightforward and bracing: the spiritual life is not static. You will come to a crisis in your life, and after the crisis, if you are open to it, you will enter a space of spiritual refreshment, peace, and compassion that you could not have imagined before.”
