COVID-19 and Camp FAQs

Is Bellwether Farm open?

Yes, Bellwether Farm remains operational at this time. Out of an abundance of caution, we will be adhering to guidance from the CDC, Ohio's Department of Health, and other experts to continue to determine whether retreat groups and field trips will be allowed after April 30. The health and safety of our community will remain our number one concern. For the time being, the farm operation remains up and running and though most employees are all working from home, camp planning is still underway!

Is Bellwether Farm taking phone calls?

Yes, most staff are working from home. You are welcome to call the office as all phone extensions are routed to our cell phones, or email us at any time.

Will I be refunded if I cancel my retreat or it is cancelled by Bellwether Farm?

If you or Bellwether must cancel your retreat or program, please choose from the following options:
  • Save the funds as a credit to be used in the future. You can either choose another date and we’ll hold your spot, or we can hold the credit in your account.
  • Kindly donate the funds already paid. A Bellwether Farm staff member can discuss with you how to receive a tax credit receipt for your generous gift.
  • Receive a full refund for the amount paid.

Will I be refunded if I choose not to participate in a program that is not cancelled, such as summer camp?

We will be offering full refunds should any participant decide to not participate in the week of summer camp for which they have paid. In order to get a refund, cancellations must be made a week before the program’s start date. We do ask that families let us know their decision as early as possible to allow other campers to fill those spots.

What is Bellwether Farm's plan for summer camp?

We are doing everything we can to ensure that all decisions about summer camp are made in the best interest of everyone involved. That being said, we believe that summer camp is needed more now than ever, and we hope to continue to provide life-changing experiences this summer. The Bellwether Farm staff is following recommendations of the Huron County Health Department and the American Camp Association, and will either adjust the summer schedule or cancel if that is what is necessary to protect campers and staff. We expect to make any schedule adjustments by May 15, if not sooner.

What about the upcoming Open Houses?

Our Open Houses will be taking place virtually on April 19 and April 26 at 2:00 p.m. Please check our Facebook and Instagram pages for livestreams where you will have the opportunity to ask questions for us to answer in real time.

As a donor to Bellwether Farm, how can I help?

We are so grateful for all the ways our donors, volunteers, staff, and community members support Bellwether Farm. In a moment when we are not able to gather physically, financial gifts ensure that we will be able to continue creating community spaces when the storm passes. For those who are able and interested, please make a gift here. Thank you for your support for campers and families during these uncertain times!
