Bellwether Farm Camp, Retreat, and Education Center offers a model of sustainable living that promotes physical and spiritual wellness, fidelity to the environment, and social justice.

Programming

Nestled into the curves of the Vermillion River, Bellwether Farm is a camp, retreat, and education center dedicated to exposing the wider community to the creation that sustains all of life. As a working farm, its life focuses on four primary activities.

Laura Benedict

Laura Benedict is the Edgar- and ITW Thriller Award- nominated author of eight novels of mystery and suspense, including The Stranger Inside (Publisher’s Weekly starred review), and the Bliss House gothic novels and stories. Her latest book is a compilation of her short fiction, When I Make Love to the Bug Man: Collected Stories. Her work has appeared in Ellery Queen Mystery Magazine, PANK, Strand Magazine, and in numerous anthologies like At Home in the Dark, A Thousand Doors, and St. Louis Noir. She is also co-founder of the groundbreaking anthology series, Surreal South. A native of Cincinnati, Ohio, she lives in Southern Illinois with her family. Jenn-Bedard

Jenn Bedard

Jenn Bedard is an avid reader and writer who spends her days thinking and talking about books. She earned her BA in English and Writing from Grand Valley State University (2008) and her MA in English Rhetoric and Composition from North Carolina State University (2015). In her career, she has worked as a high school English and French teacher, a college composition instructor, a freelance magazine writer, a book editor, and, most recently, a member of the Public Services team at the Oberlin Public Library. Her favorite book is Flowers for Algernon by Daniel Keyes, which she first discovered in 7th grade. Jenn has three dogs, eight chickens, and one husband. She dreams of expanding her homestead to include donkeys, horses, and cows.
